Hi-Speed USB host controller

Which model computer do you have?  Which version of Windows are you running?  We can't answer your question without knowing at least these two things.

I have the same question. My new scanner wants a high speed USB controller.

I'm running Win XP pro on an Inspiron 4000. Is this enough information for someone to point me in the right direction?

You might want to post your question in the Inspiron - General Hardware forum where you are more likely to find people familiar the the features of the various Inspiron models.   In this fourm we deal with Dimension desktop systems.  Laptops in general do not have the expandibility options that desktops do, so if your system does not have USB 2.0, then the only option might be to get it on a PC card.  Laptops will not accept PCI cards.

Hello guys:

Mine is a Dimension 8100 with Windows XP (sp1 pack) and use to have no problems with my USB but after i reinstalled windows XP the msg " Hi-SPEED USB device plugged into NON HI-SPEED hub" appears every time i plug any device into it.

I installed a USB 2.0 driver but still got same message.

What can i do?

Dimension 8100, Windows XP....do you need to know anything else?

The only device 2.0 i've got is a USB pen drive.

Now i got a clear picture; i'll buy a USB pci card and will install it. I've been reading the forums and i realize it is as simple as that.

I have an old gateway that i networked to my new dell computer. I used a Linksys 802.11g Wireless USB Adapter and a to connect to my dell. the Gateway operates on xp professional i think.  A message came up that said to add a Hi-Speed USB host controller. How do i do this?

First, note that you are responding to a post that is a year old.  In the future, for a better chance that your post will get noticed, and also to avoid confusion in an existing thread, please start a new thread by posting a new message, rather than a reply to an existing message.

In order for the network adapter to work at the higher speed of 802.11g, the USB port must be a high speed USB 2.0 port.  Your old Gateway likely only has USB 1.1 ports.  Thus, the adapter will tell you that it needs the higher speed port.  The only way you can do this is to add a PCI USB 2.0 card and connect the adapter to the ports added on that card.
