How many memory Dimms are better

I was looking at several newer Dell systems (E520's) and when it comes to selecting memory for the system they offer various configurations especially when you go up to 2 gb +. They offer either 2 dimms or 4 dimms....

2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 2DIMMs [add $154 or $5/month1]
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz- 4DIMMs [add $154 or $5/month1]

Which configuration is better? 2 or 4 dimms? Is there really a difference?

less dimm's is usually preferrable(and usually more expensive), because it leaves open slots for adding more memory later.
