How to Enable Hyper-Threading?

Hi, I need help enabling Hyper-Threading for my Pentium 4600. I am currently using BIOS version A12 and XP/SP1. My understanding is, the chip is a 2.4C 865G.

I tried this and it didn't enable HT:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/index.htm
Then I tried a re-flash of the BIOS (D4600A12.EXE) and that didn't do it, but...I didn't know about resetting the NVRAM. Would that help?

I also searched this sub-forum and didn't find any help.
Thanks in advance.

Run BIOS setup (press F2 before XP starts to load) and look for an option to enable HT. You may or may not have one, depending on your PC and the CPU in it.

Does that CPU chip support HT? Does XP SP1 support HT? Also, there aren't many applications that support HT and some reports say it may slow performance. So unless you have an HT-enabled app, it may not make any difference.

Thanks for the reply, RoHe. I got impatient and chatted with Dell support this afternoon. The reason the BIOS wasn't listing HT is because not all P4s have HT:

800 MHz system bus: 3.80 GHz, 3.60 GHz, 3.40E GHz, 3.40 GHz, 3.20E GHz, 3.20 GHz, 3E GHz, 3, 2.80E GHz, 2.80C GHz, 2.60C GHz, 2.40C GHz

533 MHz system bus: 3.06 GHz

Data from http://www.intel.com/products/ht/Hyperthreading_more.htm

So, it's academic now; but thanks for the post.
