should have a setting in the bios to enable it

also, click on keyboard-cntrl-alt-delete

you will have 2-cpu usage windows. if hyper-threading is disabled, will only have one cpu usage window

so if there is a setting in BIOS, then does that mean that it has Hyper-Threading Technology and if so, how do I enable it. how do I get to BIOS?

Thank very much for the response.

Go to Start >Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Processor.

If your system has Hyper Threading the processor will be listed twice. If you ordered a new computer, it normally comes with HTT enabled.

I don't much about how it works, but I guess it speeds things up. :smileywink:

To get into the bios, you press F2 at the Dell Splash Screen when you first start your computer. When you scroll through the bios, there should be something that says to turn hyper-threading on and off.

To Enable Hyperthreading:
1. Hit "F-2" (key) while booting up your system.
2. Scroll down to "CPU" and hit enter.
3. Use the right/left arrows to enable hyperthreading.
4. Follow the instructions at the bottom of the page to exit.

Nope. The 2400 doesn't have HT CPUs.

My new computer 4700 came with HT disabled.

If HT is such a good thing why would it not be enabled in the BIOS ??

Hyperthreading can potentially cause problems with some applications. By shipping with hyperthreading off by default, Dell reduces the number of service calls.

Hmm, then don't offer the HTT if you don't want to take service calls.

They can't. All the non-HT CPUs stink.

Then don't offer non-HT too. =)
