IDT-PC audio error at start-up
This is re a Dell XP430, specs at end of post.
I used to have this error randomly (not just at startup) and then SP2 *SEEMED* to have fixed it.
Now, about a month after I installed SP2, suddenly I'm getting this error again, this time at startup.
It does not SEEM to actually be causing any problems (other than making my reliability score go down).
It appears as "STaCSV64.exe" stopped working in the reliability monitor, though the error I get says "IDT-PC audio stopped working and was closed". Note also that though it says it was closed, it is still represented in my System Tray and audio still seems to work normally!
I have added the new driver that was recommended as of a few months ago, and that did not stop it, though it seemed to help for awhile.
I checked Installed Programs and there is nothing I have added that corresponds with the appearance of this error; also the error is not consistent. It has happened only 3 times at startup in the past few weeks. Startup seems to be the same every day, why would this randomly appear??? (i.e.; I have not changed my startup apps' order or added any startup apps).
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

HERE is the Dell SigmaTel (what is now IDT) driver for Vista 64 bit. Uninstall the SigmaTel (or IDT however it's labled) in the Device Manager, INCLUDING the drivers.
Restart the PC and after Windows (vista) starts, DO NOT allow Windows to search for a driver for the SigmaTel - cancel that function. After Windows completes initialiation, install the downloaded driver, restart the PC and that should take care of the problem.
To access the Device Manager, hold the Windows key down and press the Pause/Break Key. when the panel comes up the Device Manager can be accessed from the Tasks list in the upper left of the panel. RIGHT click on the SigmaTel then LEFT click on Uninstall and also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC.

Hi, thank you. The one you linked me to says" 6.10.0.6017, A01" and when I go to the Device Manager to look at mine it says "6.10.0.6017".
Dumb question perhaps but is this the same thing, the A01 not meaning anything, or should mine have the "A01 recommendation?
I am reluctant to re-load the same driver as I have heard that loading drivers can at times lead to messes. If I NEED it to have the A01 name next to it in my Device Manager then I will indeed be happy to install it. :emotion-2:
And thanks for the tip about not letting Windows search for a driver for SigmaTel.
Thanks for the info!
