IE or Netscape

I have both installed and have used both for years with no problems; however, I have recently been sticking pretty much to Internet Explorer as I find more and more web pages that will not display correctly with Netscape.

As far as e-mail, I have Netscape, Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora. Whichever one I launch will send and receive e-mail. The biggest dissadvantage to miltiple browsers is keeping your bookmarks (favorites) synchronized. For e-mail, it's keeping all the address books up to date.

I would like to add Netscape to my system but not sure if my system will be corrupted by adding netscape.
How do I add this and switch between the two?

Just go to netscape and download it. It won't corrupt your system. You can run both browsers at the same time without any problems.

However, I would choose the custom install and deselect the Real Player Junk and Instant Messenger Junk so it does not get installed automatically.

You don't really swith between the two. To launch Internet Explorer, you click on Tnternet Explorer. To launch Netscape, click in Netscape. The one you select as your default browser will launch when you click on a link.

I use both. Each has certain small advantages – a few follow:
Netscape has many more posts in a newsgroup. For example, if you have a RV with a problem and want to search alt.rv for a post covering that issue, Netscape goes back further, time-wise.

Both have newsgroups similar to Dell Talk, but I much prefer Netscape’s. It’s hard to find, however. Bring up help.netscape.com/nuggies/ from Netscape to access it. It’s a secure newsgroup, which can only be accessed from Netscape.

I prefer IE’s font size changing approach, and always use it for Dell Talk

IE has an automatic bookmarking cataloging approach, where it automatically brings up the subject of what folder to store the bookmark in. In Netscape, you manually set up folders and move bookmarks. Which is best depends upon your feelings.

If one browser seems to be too slow, you can switch to the other, handy when many people are on. At this moment, Netscape seems to be dead in the water, and IE is working fine.

Having both is a good way to verify your ISP when nothing seems to work. If neither one works, there’s a strong chance there’s problems with your ISP. More checks are better, and I also check Eudora (email) and Agent (newsgroup reader).

Thanks everyone for your points on this issue....So I gather there is no problem using both for the emailing....So for now I will keep both....I just don't want to foul things up with the ISP's sending messages with two Browers.....Any more comments, I sure appreciate them....

I've had as many as six sessions of IE and six sessions of Netscape all running at the same time. I've found that DellTalk doesn't like Netscape (at least 4.76) but I love the way Netscape caches files. To me it seems that IE is a much more invasive program.

BUT... they co-exist nicely and I see no reason to limit yourself to only one. It you use hotmail or Juno (or even Netscape) for e-mail you can access it from either browser.

The ISPs don't send e-mail messages. Your mail clients retrieve them. Your ISP doesn't care what mail client you use ans long as it has the right user name and password.
