IE5 & Windows Update errors...
Anyone have a solution to this?
I get scripting errors "do you want to debug" / Error 403 - access forbidden when trying to access windows update on my Win98 side.
I can go to my Win2k side and it comes up fine!? Yes, I know it's a different page...
TIA

Hi,
This article at the Microsoft Knowledge Base covers your problem. I don't know if it will come to that, but they do offer a link to download a new Visual Basic Script component to IE, which may solve it completely. That link takes you here, should you need this download.
Good luck,

Hi George,
I admire your audacity in this, but actually, regardless of why you did it, I agree with your action. Because IE5 is the integrated browser version in Win 98SE, if it heads south and you can't fix it with SFC, or a download from Microsoft like the VB Script thing, you are pretty much toast. If you are at Win 98 FE, you have some options, due to IE 4 being the integrated version.
I hope not to have to install my Upgrade CD until the integrated OS is 5.0, but the available IE is v. 6.0 or better.
Good luck,
