interchangeable power supplies?

a friend had a power surge that fried her computer. she's wondering if she can take the power supply from one of her other dell computers and put it into her dimension 4050.  does anyone know if the power supplies are interchangeable? i can't find specs or info about this anywhere (and don't have her computer or more specs in front of me)

seaassociates,

Not sure what model is the system that the psu will be coming from?

U really shouldnt try using a dell power supply in another computer! After 1998 dell switched from using standard atx connector to a slightly modified one. The itself is the same, but the setup of voltage is different. It would either fry the power supply, the motherboard or even both.

seaassociates.

You refered to a Dimension 4050, if you mean a Dimension 4500, then this system uses the standard ATX PSU, that can be purchased from your local computer store or any online vendor.
