Is a Intel Pentium compatible with my computer?

You can use any of the following Pentium Dual-Core processors.

Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2140 (1.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2160 (1.8 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200(2.5 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)

But, going from a Core 2 Duo, to a Pentium Dual Core, is not really an upgrade.    :emotion-43:

Prior to installing processor you need to check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15, or higher, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

All you need to do, remove the exsisting processor, reapply the thermal compound and reinstall the replacement.

As you intend to reuse the heatsink, plan on cleaning it's base and applying thermal compound to the processor.

Directions for cleaning and applying thermal compound, are HERE.

You only need a small tube of thermal compound, this can be purchased from any computer store.

Where can I find those processors online? newegg doesn't seem to have them neither do intel.
And isn't the dual core better than the core 2 duo?

I have a three year old Inspiron 530 MT with a E8400 Core 2 Duo and there's no way I would replace it with a Pentium Dual Core.  :emotion-5:

As you have a E4500, I would look for either a E8400/E8500 for the upgrade

A question, what's the reason for upgrading?

 I only went from a Core 2 Duo E6320, to the E8400, because I found a used processor at a really cheap price, plus I had a buyer for E6320, making it a very inexpensive upgrade.

The 530 systems were build with two different motherboard versions.

If your 530 was purchased with a Core 2 Duo processor and a 300w power supply, it usually has a 0RY007 motherboard, that supports Core2 Duo/Pentium Dual Core/Celeron processors only.

For some gaming purposes and since my comp is not that good compare to the new comps overall in general so yeah.
