Issue when using KVM

Setup:
PC: Dimension 5150 - display setting is at 1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz
Monitor: E196FP 19" flatscreen
Graphics Card: Radeon X300 SE 128MB Hypermemory
KVM: Sitecom KV-011 USB KVM Switch Kit

Problem:
Without putting the monitor signal through the KVM (i.e. plugging into the PC directly), I can use the monitor with no problems.

When I plug the monitor into the KVM and start the PC, I see:
The Dell startup screens
The Windows XP loading screen.

Then after this, I get a message displaying the following:
Cannot Display This Video Mode
Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60 Hz

Three more things to note:

1) Using the KVM, if I start the PC in safe mode it allows me straight though to the Windows desktop.

2) Not using the KVM (i.e. plugging the monitor into the PC), I startup Windows and get to the desktop, then unplug the monitor and plug it into the KVM - the desktop still displays and I can carry on as normal

3) I have also got a mini KVM for PS2 (which is no good to me as I have a wireless keyboard/mouse combi now) but I did test using that KVM and an old keyboard and that worked with no problems!

I've a feeling that this will be solved by ticking a box somewhere and rebooting, but have no idea where to start. It seems to just be that the monitor is unable to synchronise with the signal at the point just after the XP loader screen finishes.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have been looking at this for a couple of days now and am begiining to go nuts!

Try setting your resolution low to 1024x768, will the KVM work that way?

unfortunately it didnt work, I tried several different ones and nothing - thanks for the suggestion

Also tried upgrading the driver but it was at the latest version already.

I'm having a similar problem with a Dell 180AS 8 port switch, and a 2161DS 16 port switch.  My particular problem is that I can't boot from the OpenManage server CD to install - when it tries to start the graphical portion of the install it goes south.

I just bought about 40 of the USB SIP cables, and will have to return them if I can't get this working.  Like you, my PS2 cables are working perfectly.

Note: the USB System Interface PODS require Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, due to an issue with Microsoft's Composite USB Device drivers.

If the SIP is working, you will be able to find a registry key as follows on an XP machine:
HKEY_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0624&Pid_0294\

on Windows 2003 Servers:
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0624&Pid_0294\

Another way of telling if your machine recognizes it, is to run:
sc query usbccgp

As for your display error, this KVM (to the best of my present knowledge) does NOT permit resolutions beyond 1024x768

In otherwords, it doesn't work.  Because the Dell Open-Manage CD I'm trying to boot from, boots into a Linux kernel with a 1280x1024 resolution to start.

That means that either the SIP is poorly designed, or OpenManage is handicapped beyond repair and needs to be replaced with something a little less "Playschool"

I'll be calling my rep for an RMA # and shipping the entire 40 SIP's back COD.  Then I'll call HP and invite them for a visit.
