Try setting your resolution low to 1024x768, will the KVM work that way?

I'm having a similar problem with a Dell 180AS 8 port switch, and a 2161DS 16 port switch.  My particular problem is that I can't boot from the OpenManage server CD to install - when it tries to start the graphical portion of the install it goes south.

I just bought about 40 of the USB SIP cables, and will have to return them if I can't get this working.  Like you, my PS2 cables are working perfectly.

Note: the USB System Interface PODS require Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, due to an issue with Microsoft's Composite USB Device drivers.

If the SIP is working, you will be able to find a registry key as follows on an XP machine:
HKEY_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0624&Pid_0294\

on Windows 2003 Servers:
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Enum\USB\Vid_0624&Pid_0294\

Another way of telling if your machine recognizes it, is to run:
sc query usbccgp

As for your display error, this KVM (to the best of my present knowledge) does NOT permit resolutions beyond 1024x768

In otherwords, it doesn't work.  Because the Dell Open-Manage CD I'm trying to boot from, boots into a Linux kernel with a 1280x1024 resolution to start.

That means that either the SIP is poorly designed, or OpenManage is handicapped beyond repair and needs to be replaced with something a little less "Playschool"

I'll be calling my rep for an RMA # and shipping the entire 40 SIP's back COD.  Then I'll call HP and invite them for a visit.
