Jerky Sound
1. Sound Blaster Audiology 2 ZS, PCIw/Dolby Digital EX, IEEE1394, 7.1 channel, THX cert
2. Dell A425 speakers
3. Factory installed audio
4. Dell 8400 w/WXP Media Center
Sound is jerky often when I am on AOL, but is also jerky when the computer starts up and we log on to out separate "sides" of this computer.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

Go to www.sysinternals.com and download free Process Explorer. Open PE and under Options on toolbar select 'Always on top'. Now play some audio. When it sounds jerky, look in PE window to see what's using CPU time, other than System Idle Process. Something using as little as 5% CPU time can affect audio quality.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did not reinstall, but will consider doing so. Also, I will try PE.
