jpeg file to large

I have a kodak DC 3400 and have taken picutres
at highest quality and resolution so I can maybe print them.........
I also would like to send them email .
When I transfer them to jpeg via the card reader
they are a 677Kb size . I use adobe photo delux home version 3.0
to convert them to another jpeg file. It only shrinks them to
299KB still too big...do I need to do something else or get
a newer photo software? and what would you recomend
thanks Bette

You need to cahnge the resolution to shrink the file size. You should be able to do that in PhotoDeluxe. You may have to open it as A PSD or PPD file to change the resolution. To view on a computer screen you only need about 72 to 100dpi. You then save the file as a jpeg. Be sure to give this file a new name so it doesn't overwrite your original file.

betdan,
The highest resolution on a DC3400 is huge, something like
20X16. I keep mine set to the middle resolution, the pics are
1024X768 I think. I see no difference in print quality between
the highest and middle resolution. Play with it and compare
the quality of the prints, think you'll find the middle setting
works just as good and the jpgs are managable.

I guess I will have to keep the middle resolution as
My photo delux came with something years ago and does not let me change the resolution It does change sizeand file extensions but only did so by the 200KB's I will try and do it to the same picture over and over and maybe it will get smaller.as you can tell I am new to this..... I need to learn about it more.any good sites?????
thanks for all your help.Bette

Hi Bette,

I think you will like
this. I found this site when I ran a search on Google about "resize". It is a tutorial on Resizing using "InfanView". You will need to download InfanView, it is a neat FREE program that will do about all you need. I have used InfanView and it is great.
