Just another E510 blinking light problem; what needs to be replaced?
Hello,
Yes, like many E510 users, I too have the blinking light problem. However, I figured out a "ritual" or process in which I can successfully power back my E510. When this started happening, the problem would be fixed by simply unplugging all the USB cords from the front and back USB ports. I would wait ~2-3 mins, it would attempt to power on and then power back down. For me, this was a signal that I could turn on my computer by simply pressing the power button again. Then, I would plug in all the USB cords back in and everything would run as normal.
However, over time, the process has changed slightly. Currently, in order to power back my E510, I would have to remove all USB cords AND the ethernet cable. Again, I would wait ~2-3 mins, but this time it would power back on without having to press the power button a second time.
After reading many forum posts and the like, I figured that I may have to replace something. The question is: what needs to be replaced? And if something does need to be replaced, where can I get the piece of hardware?

Hi ZeRoX99, According to your manual you have an power supply problem, check the diagnostic lights to see if the specific problem is identified.

5150/E510 systems do not use a Dell proprietary power supply, you can install most generic ATX power supplies with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector. As the D-5150/E510 has an open back panel, a power supply with or without the on/off switch can be used and can be purchased from most local or online computer stores.
A power supply with a minimum of two SATA power connectors is needed.

I checked the diagnostic lights and these were the patterns that it flashed, in this order:
1. 3, 4
2. 2, 4
3. 1, 2 ,3
