keep getting blue error screen
I have a dell desktop flatscreen windows 7 home premium. It's only 2 years old and I am having a problem. When I turn on the computer I get to the screen where I put in my password to get to the desktop. It takes awhile to get to the desktop but when it does it shuts down and then goes to a blue error screen and then it goes to a black screen which gives me the option to restart in certain modes. I always hit start windows normally. This keeps happening. sometimes it will go through and everything is fine and sometimes it keeps going back to these two screens. I have tried 4 times to restore the system back to an earlier time but this has not completely fixed the problem. I also cleaned out my pc by uninstalling unused programs but nothing seems to work. Can someone please tell me why this is doing this and what I can do to fix it? Thank you.

Well I tried it again but it's still coming up saying theres no disc. Are you sure you gave me the right link to digital river? When I click the link that you gave me it automatically starts to download. Also when i go on my computer and then click on the file and click on open with nothing comes up saying burn image. Also when I started the installation it did not give me a choice to custom install it just said install. When I hit install thats when It says theres no disc.

yes i can get to the windows installer screen but it won't give me the choice to custom install. And like I said it says theres no disc. What should I do about the drivers. Should I download or upgrade any drivers?

Usually the drivers are provided by downloading them from the Dell support site and copying them to a flash drive or other removable media accessible to the installer.
What options does the Windows installer screen give?

I hit install. It doesn't give me any other options. can I copy those drivers to a DVD? I do not have a flash drive. I think i'm going to give up for the night. Getting tired. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks for trying to help.

I have 2 discs that came with the computer. One says drivers and utilities and the other one is drivers and documentation. Could I use either one of them?

They might be on one of those.
This issue is strange, because I never had problems installing Windows 7 on an new PC.

What is the Model of Dell?
What Country are you in?
What version of Windows Home Premium. The original or SP1.
Do you know where your COA sticker is with the serial number?
Have you Requested Replacement Media From Dell? You can always Boot a Live Version of UBUNTU From DVD. If you do not have access to someone who can burn you a disk you can get a copy from a bookstore or Regular Store Like Microcenter that carrys Linux magazines with Bootable Linux DVD's. We need to verify that your hardware is OK before trying to install windows.

It's a dell 560 windows 7 home premium. I am in the united states. I think I have the service pack 1. I don't know where to find the serial number. I did try to request replacement media from dell but I don't know if the order went through. After I filled out the form and hit submit, it just went right back to the page with the form. So I don't know if it went through. Can I boot the live version from my computer on to a blank DVD?

BLANK DVD's do not boot. Live Linux will boot without a hard drive installed.
Call customer support and Request Replacement Media.

It's cheaper to copy the generic Windows ISO to a flash drive. I can walk you through that via chat if that's an option.
You can buy a flash drive from Newegg for under $7: www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit fits on an 8gb drive, and so does Windows 8 Professional 64-bit. In the latter case, Windows Explorer reports 4.75 GB free.:emotion-3:
