Keyboard / Mouse Freeze Up

Question

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 and absolutely love it. But lately, my keyboard and mouse will just stop working. I usually turn the computer off and on and that helps for a while, but it doesn't ever fix the problem. I called Dell's technical support once and the women helped me, but the problem surfaced again a few minutes after I got off the phone.

Also, sometimes instead of not working, the keyboard will type in capital letters when the caps lock is not on.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

I have the same problem w/ my 8100, although just my mouse freezes up so far but when it does I have to reboot. Have installed latest intellipoint software but problem still persists. Going to try replacing the mouse next.

Thanks.  My computer is still under warranty (I hope).  I'm going to also try replacing my keyboard and mouse.

I hope that fixes your problem.  I had a wireless keyboard and mouse that stopped working.  I plugged in the original Dell keyboard and mouse.  It still doesn't work except in BIOS mode, where you just hit the enter key and arrow keys.
