Kudos to Dell Tech Support

The cooling fan on my daughter's 3000 started doing the jet engine thing some time ago, but she didn't really bug me about it until last week (well, actually my wife started bugging me).

I e-mailed tech support on Tuesday evening, got the automated response Wednesday, to which I replied immediately (I had already narrowed it down). Later that evening, they e-mailed me that they would send someone out. The guy called Thursday, came out Friday evening and replaced the fan in about five minutes.

All of my experiences with tech support and warranty services have been positive as well.

So now Dell is using shills and ringers to pretend they got good service?

I'm not buying it!!!

Highlander,

I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with tech support, but that does not give you the right to insult dedicated members of the Dell Forum community who have helped thousands of people solve problems.   I will also say that my experince with Dell Tech support has always been good.  Perhaps that is because I don't make it a habit of insulting people that are trying to help.

No offense to anybody but Dell phone support has never done me any good. This forum has always been a great resource to me and has answered all of the questions I couldn't get answered over the phone. I've spent literally hours on hold with them, usually to find out that they dont know what to do, and tell me its my own problem. Last time I had a problem booting up my hard drive the guy on the phone ran me through the steps of reformatting. If I hadn't known what was going on I would have erased data and files that you can't put a price on. BTW, the solution? run repair => bootmgr and fixboot commands. Thanks dell forum :-)

It's a pleasant experience, to read something good, about Dell's Technical Support.

Thanks for the heads up.

Icedemon:

I recommend e-mail over phone support for people who don't have lots and lots of spare time.

I am batting a .500 because I had one good experience and one bad experience with phone support. I think a lot of it depends on how much the tech support person knows and how well the computer owner describes the problem.
It is nice to see positive post on here about tech support. I'm sure we all know that most people with a good experience is not going to post here because their problem was solved and it is time to go back to their daily lives. Not all, but some of the ones on this forum can not be satisfied. It is nice to see users helping users around here. Maybe Dell should hire some of you guys. hehehe
