LCD text to small
Dell E1505, Windows XP, SP3, all the latest windows updates have been installed.
At a resolution of 1680x1050 the display is crisp, clear, and much to small to read. I've tried lower resolutions but they are all to fuzzy and look horrible. I did increase the font size in the display properties box, but all that really did was make the icons on the main screen bigger. Of course, I can't reset them to normal size now. I need to increase the readibility not only in IE8, but also in all my other programs such as Microsoft office. Any ideas?
Thanks

You can easily make any of your text bigger in IE8 or Office by simply holding down your control key and moving your mouse wheel forward. I always use the native resolution of the monitor and just do the above if I have a problem reading text. I use Firefox, but I believe you can also set the text to a larger size in IE8 by going to your "View" options. This sounds like a laptop computer and you have posted this in the desktop forums if you were not aware of it.

I was going to suggest adjusting the DPI settings (Display Properties - Settings - Advanced button), but I think JMichael's got the better solution. Tweaking the DPI settings up a little looks better than just jumping to different screen resolutions, but still not as good as the default.
Anyways, I found this guide helpful when playing with it myself. Tried to fix the same thing when I went from CRT to LCD and ultimately just got used to the defaults.

Poordad,
Is the 1957 in your 'handle' the year of your birth? If so, I'm a similar age.
I tried all the above suggestions in the past. But in the end, the only real solution is to fix your eyes. This post was written on a laptop with a 17 in. widescreen display at only 1440x900 resolution (special ordered lower-than-std resolution) which was still not good enough.
Had to get 'computer glasses' which are designed for perfect focus at arms length.
