Lost "A" drive
I recently upgraded from Windows 98 to 2000. I also updates the Bios flash.
I now notice the "A" drive is completly gone/deleted off the computer. However, when I power up the computer, the "A" drive does go through the cycle and the light flashes.
I am also getting a code 31 in "Device" on the Floppy Disk line
Can anyone help me?

Code 31 is explained at the link below:

The explanation indicates that the device (floppy drive) is dependent upon another device. My guess would be that you don't have a floppy disk controller device installed or functioning correctly. I would think that Windows 2000 would have an installable controller for your system. Otherwise, you should go to Dell Support at this link:

Enter your service tag number and search for appropriate drivers in the downloads section. Post back here if you have other questions or if this does not help you.
