Memory Parity Error

When trying to shut down (WinXP) I recieve a message that reads..."Hardware malfunction NMI parity check Memory Parity Error **System was halted**

Probably a memory failure.  Check the lights on the back of the unit and then look them up under the Desktops tab above, then Dimension, then User Guides.

I think I finally have this machine fixed. It has run close to 8 hours of repeated testing with no symptoms or BSOD. Here are the details if anyone else has suffered this same problem. Clearbranch's NMI:Parity error Bulletin Enjoy :-) NMI: Memory Parity Error DELL GX280 This the cause and fix for the BSOD caused by the Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller driver in the Dell GX280 computer. Symptoms: BSOD on restart or upon enabling/disabling the Local Area Connection. Occurs randomly but usually around the time you log on or off or disable the internet connection using this on-board 10/100 Ethernet adapter. FIX: Download the updated driver and install. NMI: Memory Parity Error Hardware configuration of affected machine: Dell OptiPlex GX280 Desktop Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) Bus Clock: 800 megahertz BIOS: Dell Inc. Just opened my comp and had this problem (took me 4 attemps to be able to load windows). I'll try to update my ethernet driver
