Memory upgrade for Dimension 2400
Can you please tell me how much memory I can upgrade for this computer? Do both slots have to be the same amount? And how can I be sure how much memory I have installed now? Someone gave me this computer. Thanks.

Memory Architecture: DDR SDRAM
Memory connectors: two
Memory capacities: 128-, 256-, or 512-MB
Minimum memory: 128 MB shared DDR SDRAM
NOTE: Between 32 and 64 MB of system memory may be allocated to support graphics, depending on system memory size and other factors.
Maximum memory: 1 GB
Memory type: PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC)
No, the two slots do not need the same type of memory, nor is there any advantage to making them the same.

You could replace the memory with 2x512M to get 1G total, but that is more expensive and probably not that noticeable over 768M. I would probably go this route. If you have 2x128M, I would go with 1G total or 640M if you are on a budget.
According to the specs, it will not take 1G sticks.
