Monitor during starting up: cannot display this video mode

Yesterday I installed "PC Zapper", a connection between my Dell 4700 PC and my Television. After that I can switch between my PC and TV.

When I start up my pc, now I get 2 times the notification "cannot display this video mode". I don't see the Dell logo. After 10 secondes the message disappears and I get in 1024x 768 resolution my Windows XP dashboard and I can do everything I want ....

But how can I get rid of the error messages .....

Thanks,

Paul

Since this problem happened since you installed PC Zapper, it appears that this device is causing the problem. I would suggest that you go their website and get tech support there. The only thing I can think is happening is that your system is confused as to where to send the video signal until the system get further into the boot up cycle. I would suspect that the problems would go away by removing PC Zapper.

Thank you for answering. I removed the PC zapper physically (the connection from COM1) but still I get the message on my screen.

Additional information: after installing the PC zapper this problem didn't occur, but the TV screen showed black and white. For that reason I installed a new driverpackage form ATI. Resulting in a coloured TV screen (ok) and the message on my pc ....

If this occurred after installing the driver pack from ATI (which you didn't tell us in your original post) I would suggest that you roll your system back to the previous driver.

Right click on the desktop
Select Settings
Select Advanced
Select Adapter
Select driver
Select roll back driver

See if this will make the problem go away. At times ATI latest driver pack can create a problem that wasn't there before you installed the new drivers.

Keep me posted
