Monitor or Video Card Issue
Hello everyone,
I'm sort of a newb, but don't know where to start trying to fix my problem. I'll try to be as detailed as I can.
I'm running a Dell XPS/Dimension 410/9200 original config from October 2006. It has the 24" flat panel, widescreen (2407WFP) and a nVidia GeForce 7300 LE video card with 128MB. Over the last 4ish months, the display has been getting progressively worse to the point now where I'm having pink and green rectangular areas appearing on my screen. It started off as really bright blue dashed lines that would go across the screen, especially pictures on the web, and slowly progressed to this pink and green checker pattern.
These pink/green/bright blue colours will disappear if I resize/move/close/open a window (ie - Firefox, Excel, Control Panel...it's not program specific) but will immediately return. The colours mainly stay in the top half of my screen, rarely getting into the bottom.
I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the video card, but I think (I can't recall specifically, as it's been a while) it got worse since I installed the drivers. I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean.
Any thoughts and/or suggestions? It's getting to the point where I can't even view pics/read text sometimes....I've just sort of put up with it over the last few months but it's getting quite bad.

Do you have another computer to try the monitor on? Take your monitor over to a friend's house and try it on her computer.

Hi gregpattman, Your manual is HERE, and I would recommend any of these cards HERE, and HERE. There is not a lot of difference in the prices, this 4550 HERE is $49.99. Buty if your going to get an graphics card, well get an good one.

Ok, done.
I hooked it up to another computer and the monitor worked perfectly! Glad to know it's not the monitor....expensive!
The next logical issue would be the video card....could there be something else that could be wrong, like the motherboard/PCI slot itself? I'll have to install a card and see what happens.....
What's a cheap/basic vid card comparable to the GeForce 7300 LE? I don't game or do anything that's extensive on my comp....surf, office products, pics, etc.
