Motherboard, Processor options for Dell Dimension
I have a dell dimension xps d300 that was running windows 95 but i made a few upgrades and added windows xp. Well the mobo, ram and processor are so under powered that it will barely run windows xp. what i really want to do is replace the mobo and processor with new ones. I already have new hard drive installed so no need for that.....is this possible....maybe i need to replace the power supply too? thats fine is so.....but i really want to do this....I was going to build a desktop but i see no reason to buy a case if i use this one.

The XPS Dxxx Series, has a Dell proprietary power supply, motherboard and case, if you wish to upgrade to a new ATX motherboard, you would need to buy a standard ATX case and power supply and maybe a new SATA hard drive, the newer motherboards support SATA, not IDE hard drives.
You could probably can buy a used Dell Inspiron 530 MT for less than it would cost to upgrade the XPS Dxxx Series computer.
