Mouse keeps freezing!

Question

Ever since I got my Dimension 8400 a couple days ago, I plugged into the USB port my Microsoft Optical Mouse and it keeps freezing... It will work for a little bit, sometimes longer than others, then all of a sudden it will freeze up.  The only way to unfreeze it is to pull it out of the port and plug it back in and it's fine again...  I tried the Dell mouse and it was even more eratic.   PLEASE HELP! It's quite frustrating especially with the amount I spent on this computer!   Thanks, Scott

Actually It would be better if u could mention the dell mouse spcifications of the dell mouse ..but actually .. first u have to uninstall the drivers of the dell mouse or there may be some software will be installed on the system ...the reinstall the drivers for the mouse .. or else u can using usb mouse on a different port ... at the back of the computer..

I went to the Microsoft Mouse Driver website and downloaded a new driver... It hasn't frozen since...  Hopefully this will continue... I'll repost if the problem reoccurs...   Thanks!   Scott

Yesterday I went the entire day without the mouse freezing; today it's frozen twice....  I just don't understand the problem.   Please advise.   Thanks, Scott

Hi click on the link 'Essential spyware removal steps and other hijackthis help forums' below and follow all the instructions (Step 1-5) and post the hijackthis log after reading (Instructions a/b/c) after downloading/running all the programs mentioned there alongwith the Online anti-virus scans .Update all the programs ie spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/update.html ,AND adaware http://www.colby-sawyer.edu/information/technology/updates/ad-awareusage.html before logging into safe mode to run it .

Hi,   So I uninstalled the mouse driver, put in the mouse that came with the computer, and the problem seems to be resolved...  Thing is, I really like the Microsoft Optical Mouse because it has the front/back buttons on it... Does Dell offer such a mouse, and could I trade mine in for one?  For some reason the MS mouse keeps freezing and I can't figure out why....   Thanks, Scott
