Need for a true User's Guide

There is no User's Guide for the Dell Inspiron 2330 All-in-One computer. The so-called Operator's Manual is actually a simplisitic repair manual with instructions on how to disassemble the machine and remove parts. There is a Quick Start sheet that identifies buttons and ports, etc of the hardware.

But nowhere to be found is a true guide for the new user seeking to set up and operate the Inspiron 2330. New users, and even experienced ones, could use some help for example: anticipating how the set up will proceed,  how to connect wireless keyboard and mouse to implement setup steps, where does the bluetooth dongle go - side USB3 ports or back USB2 parts, does it matter?

This complete silence on Dell's part leaves the impression that Dell is dismissive of customer service needs. How hard could it be to provide something more functional than the Quick Start one page summary of hardware locations?

Hi hgb in ox,

I could not agree more. Let me share this with the moderators.

There is also a separate forum called IdeaStorm (link above) where you can make suggestions like this. I believe a separate registration is required.

SpeedStep, Thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry to say that I think you've missed my point, or that I didn't make clear what the need is. The "owners Manual"  you describe and provide a link to is a document I have studied. If I wanted to disassemble or repair the computer, it would be helpful That's what it is - a service manual. What I'm asking for is a User's Guide - something that insructs those unfamiliar with a particular device how to set it up and get it going properly.

Dell surely does not make the working asunmption that every item they sell is bought only by an experieneced and qualified geek. It ought to be possible for an average customer who is interested only in using the computer and does not intend to be an amatuer repair man to find somewhere a manual that helps. The "Quick Start" guide is only a couple of pictures identifying the ports and buttons. It has no instructions for set up at all and neither does the "Operators Manual".

So I'll muddle through taking a longer time with uncertain steps and a level of disappointment in Dell who didn't think of things from the user's perspective. It has long been a hallmark of business success to see life through the customer's eyes and not become myopically focused on your own view.

The Bluetooth Dongle is USB.

They do make a setup guide that is usually in the box.

I would recommend plug in the back as in this video.
