NEED HELP computer does not reconize keyboard or muse

Question

yesterday i left my computer and when i came back a few moments later the keyboard and muse were not working so i turned it(computer) off. when i turned it back on it says keybordfalure if u let if sit at that screen it will continue to load to the page it should (my login page) but then i cant do anything now nothing (keyboard and muse dont work) so thats were im at right now.                                 I have NO idea that happend (pretty sure thats its not a vires or Trojan)          If any one has any info please POST it if anyone know how to fix it                                                            maybe my motherboard blue? i dont know why or how this happened i just want it fixed desperately                                                                         Thanks

Posting once is enough.  You just clutter the forum by posting multiple times.  Try using a different keyboard or unplugging and replugging into a different USB port.  Restart you computer and try to enter the BIOS(might not work if you keyboard isn't working).  If all that fails, call tech support.

sorry i know (simeted 2 on acident)                          tryed that allready they both work on ps3 and tryed exaching them with new ones sorry again STILL NEED MORE HELP

If you cannot get into the BIOS, and both the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive, you might need a tech to repair it.  I cannot think of much that can be done without any form of input.  I recommend calling Dell.  If you have XPS support they are normally very fast.

Try somthing else in you USB ports. If nothing will work in your ports then try clearing your NVRAM. Shutdown your system and unplug it, press the power button for 10 seconds to drain off and flea power. remove all USB devices except the mouse and keyboard. Locate your sata ports on the motherboard, there are 4 of then in 2 rows of 2. Locate the jumper just under the righthand lower sata port. The pins for the jumper are numbered from left to right as 3,2 and 1. The jumper is on the 3&2 pins. move it to the 2&1 pins for 10 seconds and then return it to the original pins. Power the system back on and test the keyboard and mouse. If your system does not have a floppy drive, you will get a floppy seek error. If your keyboard is now working, reboot and press F2 at the dell screen to enter setup. using the down arrow key on the keyboard, go down to "drives" and press enter. The first item under drives is now "diskette drive". Arrow down to it and press enter, now look on the top right side of the display, use the left arrow key to highlight "off", press enter, press ESC and right arrow over to "save and exit". Of course if you do have a floppy drive or do not get the floppy seek error then your done.

If your still under warrenty then call tech support before trying this yourself. Thay can walk you through it and help you change you bios settings as needed.

I've seen this happen many times on the 400 if you leave a ipod or somthing like that plugged in when you shutdown. It shuts off the USB ports for some reason and the jumper reset is the only way to turn them back on.

Hope this works for you, otherwise it's new motherboard time.

thanks for all the help everyone i final got it working (for now who knows for how long) i terned it on today and to my amasment it started working again still i have my eye on getting a new motherbord                                      thanks for all the help again
