Is the power button LED, solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber?

the 2 and the 3 are a solid amber when i hold the power button down

A blinking Amber power button LED, ususally indicates a power problem.

First, open the case, remove and reconnect all the power and data cables, also check for any burnt or charred connectors.

Fails to correct the problem, and you are comfortable around computers, you could try the following to test the power supply.

Unplug the cord from the power supply, hold the power button in for about 15/20 seconds, open the case, unplug the 24-pin power connector from the motherboard and jump the Green wire to one of the Black wires, reconnect the power cord and power the system on, if power supply fan and hard drive run, then the PSU should be good.

Note: Do not remove any wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a jumper.

x23x is a diagnostics code, that indicates a hard drive problem.

The power button has a small LED, that should show, a solid green, blinking green, solid amber, blinking amber.

Does the 9100 boot?

Have you tried reseating the power and data cables?

Have you run Dell diagnostic's extended test, read, write, verify, on the hard drive, not the quickie express test.

How to use Dell's Diagnostic Utility

After the Dell Diagnostics loads and the Main Menu screen appears, click the button for the option you want.

Diagnostics can also, be run from the Drivers and Utilities Resource CD.

We understand the 2 and 3 diagnostic LEDs are lit amber. Bev was asking about the power button LED.

ive reseated the power and data cables and i had it boot into the bios for about 2 minutes before it turned off but now i cant get it to boot at all

so to jump it i just put a paper clip behind the green and one of the black wires on the 24 pin power connector?

Yes, that's correct.

Yes, take a paper clip and bend it into the shape of a "U", then pushing one end of it into the green wire pin and the other end into a black wire pin, to complete the circuit between the two.

Do not pull any wires out of the plug.
