New System - driver questions?

I received a new dell 8200 2.0 GHZ PC. I have a question about drivers. Does Dell preinstall the best ones? For example I went to Logitech website and downloaded the drivers for my Wheel Mouse -- my PC came with microsoft drivers installed. Are there other drivers that I should change? My DVD player causes the video to skip at times. My system should easliy be able to play a DVD smooth -- my old PII450 did without problems!! I looked on Dell's website and they say to make sure that the DMA box is checked in your DVD configuration box. There is no such box in my DVD properties window---all of the other options are there but nothing about DMA. Any ideas or driver comments in general? Thanks!

jowen36,

Dell's supplied drivers are "certified" by Dell before they are offered. In some cases (particularly in the case of video drivers) newer ones are available from the manufacturer's Web site.

Denny's information is correct, but if Dell doesn't certify the drivers you install, they won't support you if you call them. They'll tell you to install the original or currently certified drivers in order to receive support. I'd say update the drivers anyway, because although Dell designs their own systems, they don't always know everything.
