NEW XPS 700 Delay thread

I guess we need to start a new XPS Delay thread....

Huh.  It was just there, and then it vanished.  Something about problems installing the cooling assembly.

It would probably have been better for ChrisM to create the new thread, and link to it when locking the old one though... :)

If anyone wants to see what was said, someone got a copy and paste of it over at Slickdeals.net.

Wow, so they retracted the statement and deleted the copy of it that was posted in this thread? What's going on? You'd think that we got some actual real information, but was it too much for even Dell to give out?

That got yanked really fast...

I had assumed Chris M would make one with an update...maybe he/she is still doing so.

Here is Rocco Ancona's answer regarding Quad SLI. It's short, bittersweet, but to the point.

Cache,

Thank you for your note below.  I wanted to make sure I answered your specific engineering question about the 7950GX2 as there should be no reason down the road why you can’t add a second one to increase your graphics performance.  We routinely test both single and dual GX2’s during our development process.

As far as the speculation that exists on the Dell forum, it’s difficult to be able to answer each and every element but rather suggest you contact (address removed below) to help with such questions.

Thanks,

Rocco

He did for a second. It was Dell's response, said it was a cooling issue that they've located and are fixing. Also quoted a mid-October release/shipping, 4-8 week lead time, but hope to get it out sooner.

What does it really matter anyway? Some of us eigther won't believe, or accept it.(Not me, I am growing numb to it) But will we cancel, I doubt it. Most of us are trapped by the 0%finance. Besides we are too far committed now. I don't understand why anyone would cancel now. I personally am very happy with the offer I recieved and the specs, I just would like it to be built. I am sure it will be a great product and make everyone happy once some of us get it and spread the word.

errr, Ive copied something since then! I don't see it in my Office Clipboard either... does anyone else still have it? I am assuming they will re-post something but I am curious as how the new statement will match up with the old statement.

Well, I'm not waiting for whatever explanation Chris M is finetuniung - hey, Chris - I proof stuff for a living ... wanna send it to me to check for grammar???? Oops, thought not.

Seriously, I'm right now on hold with Dell in order to cancel my XPS700 order. I would have liked to get the computer, but I can't want until October 23 (at the earliest) to get my system that was ordered on July 2 (and that the website still shows as being delivered yesterday .... surprise, it didn't arrive).

Dell almost got me to buy another system from them last night, but I find that I have to doubt anything they say right now about anything. They've lost all credibility in my eyes. Went to the local store today and they're building me an XPS-type setup (close as I could get) for $500 less and it'll be ready this afternoon. The specs are virtually the same as the one I had on order, except for AMD versus Intel.

Still holding for the "next available representative". When I was putting together the system I bought today locally, what should happen but someone else coming through the door who is another Dell wanna-buy who was going to buy elsewhere too.

No matter what ChrisM may say today, I just can't force myself to believe it. Hopefully it'll be good news and everything will work out, but not for me. I'm free!!!!! Dude, I'm SO not getting a Dell.
