See my problem is getting the RAM speed to match the FSB of the 2.26GHz. P4 w/533MHz. bus on the Dimension 8200. Otherwise the extra power of the CPU will be wasted. I'm not sure if that made any sense...
So far Intel does not 'officially' support the new PC1066 Rdram on the 850E motherboards.
Since Intel doesn't 'officially' support it, and Intel makes the motherboards used by Dell in the 8200, Dell motherboards don't 'officially' support it either.
Several web sites have reported that they were able to install PC1066 Rdram and the system would report 'non-supported ram' on boot-up, but would then give you the option to contine. They did, and they have run many benchmarks on it.
No the problem you face is, Do I buy a current 8200 with a CPU that runs at 533Mhz and hope that some day Dell/Intel will release a BIOS upgrade that will the allow the MB to 'Officially' support PC1066,
Or do you put off your purchase until such a day comes when Dell sells a system that does officially support PC1066, and possibly have USB 2.0 as well.
I'm aware of this because i just purchased a 2.53Ghz system myself.
It all depends on how badly you want the new system.
Me, i decided i didn't want to wait, and no matter what, even with just PC800 , my new system is going to run plenty fast enough for me.

JDWSLL is correct.
Dell uses motherboards made by Intel for them.
So far Intel does not 'officially' support the new PC1066 Rdram on the 850E motherboards.
