Nvidia Control Panel: Performance Settings

  I have reviewed the methods to change LEDs colors, and those works fine.

  Read the write-up at http://www.my630i.com/resources/installationinstructions.html and decided to set up a game profile for when I play EverQuest II to ramp up the fans on the CPU, case, and GPU. Saved the policy, then rebooted Vista. When I got the OS booted, i ran up Everquest2 and the program was starting to initialize when the OS froze tight. No hard drive activity, no mouse, nothing. Waited for several minutes before hard booting the machine.

  Was no way to edit the policy I created, or any way of deleting the thin, so I clicked the box to uncheck the  policy (so it would not run) and again Vista froze up. Another hard boot, and no way to remove a bugged policy, as Vista isn’t as easily navigated as XP was; folders/paths are hidden.)

  Found out, by backtracking from the adding of Profile to the third window and pressing the higher directory icon, that I was able to delete “NvUserEx”, “nvprfctl.dat”, & “nvprfctl.bak” files that could not otherwise be altered.

 After I cleared the bad policies, I was able to create the one for initial boot, exited, rebooted the OS and is working fine.

  Guess I have to just run the game profile manually each time I play the game, and then load the normal policy when I am done. Can’t have the application freezing up my new system every time I want to load the game.

  I have Nvidia Control Panel, version 2.2.210.06; could there be a less buggy version available somewhere? I hope the next incarnation of the software has the ability to edit Profile Policies, with the ability to remove them directly from the program as well.
