If you ever feel you hate your computer, even the least bit, I'll pay S&H for both computers if you're willing to trade!
Just take a look at my system specs, and you'll see what I mean...

But anyway... I give that pc a 7 out of 10 just because Dell is getting ready to bail out on the 8200's and then increase production on the 4550's and 8250's.

I give it an 8.5. Minus .5 for a %3 to %5 loss in speed with PC800 RAM and a full point because of the limit on upgrades and tweaking. You have a good solid machine with very good speed.

Any computer is only as good as the person using it. If you don't understand all the bells and whistles its useless. Learn how to use it and maintain it so it always performs great. Every one has a different need for a system. If your only interested in writing some papers and surfing the net, then perhaps yours is overkill. If you need it for gaming, surfing and everything inbetween you picked a winner.

You ordered it because you liked it, and that is the bottom line. I give it a 10 for you.

It's a good system but dont get worried about the hard drive, 80GB is more than enough and in game performance having an ATA/133 or larger buffer cache wont mean much, if anything. Also even though PC1066 would have been better than PC800, it's really not THAT important, it's still good anyway. Also 1gb of RAM might be a little much, since right now 512mb is the sweet spot.

The 2.8Ghz and the ATI Radeon 9700 PRO was a good choice and will last you a great deal of time.

Hello there-Aside from video capture, the real question is; what won't your computer do? You have power to spare, what would you say the computer's main task would be?

DUDE I have almos the EXACT same system...that is a POWERHOUSE...10 ALL THE WAY. PC1066RAM makes as much difference as the wallpaper you choose, dont worry about it. I'll enjoy mine, and you enjoy yours, its a heck of a system.

Nobody is saying PC800 is bad, it's just he had the option to pick PC1066 and that is the better choice of the two. Same with the GeForce 4600 and the 9700 pro, but he picked the fast one

9, definatly a nice system.  It's not a 10 because i think th 19'' monitor is to big, and 512MB RDRAM really is plenty.  Have fun with your sweet system!!

Whats missing here is the intended use. You can't pick the best system unless you know how you will use it. For instance, if your only interest is the Internet, and maybe word processing (for an occasional letter), I't rate the system "1" because you'ld be paying at least two times and possibly three times what you would need to pay for a system that would do the job. On the other hand, if you interests go to action games, then I'd rate it a "9", and point out that you should have bought an 8250 for the extra (small) boost in speed.

Isn't there an old axiom that says "You can never have enough RAM?"  I'm just curious as too why you think Bunker_Buster has to much RAM?

Well I said it might since I dont know what exactly you do with your computer. If you just play games and surf the net you wont be using more than 512mb.

However if you mutitask a lot, or do video or digital editing than you might need the 1024mb. For the general user and gamer you don't need more than 512mb.

It's just that for half what he paid for RAM the system would be perfectly fine.  And your right you can never have to much of anything on a computer, barring viruses and spam.
