Optiplex-3010 Desktop second hard drive
The desktop is kind of an odd duck, in that it's hard drive holder takes a 3.5 on top and a 2.5 on the bottom. The data cable has two connectors, but I have only one of the power connectors. It's different too, because it connects directly to the mother board and not the power supply that I'm used too (but it's been years since I've bought a new machine)
Can somebody please tell me what the correct part number is for an additional hard drive power cable for this box is? The one that came with is maybe 4 inches and blue.
thank you,
jim

Look up your model's manual online to find out if you can install a second hard drive. It will have instructions on how to do it in removing Parts. Here's the manual--

Thanks for taking the time, it's the Desktop model, I did put that into the title of the post although I can see that would be ambiguous.
I have already looked into that manual and it states in the specs at the bottom that it only takes one hard drive, but in the section where they show how to take out the disk, they show removing the 3.5 and 2.5 disks from the same holder. There are two connectors on the SATA data cable, with one being used for the pre-installed 3.5 500G drive.
I need the part number for the correct SATA power cable so I can install the extra disk drive. This is not available in the manuals that I've been able to see.
thank you,
jim
