optiplex 7010 small form factor linux video badness
Got a optiplex 7010 desktop model (intel video) to test linux @ at our site and it works great. Ordered another batch, but folks were interested in the small form factor model this time, and it turns out that I'm having little luck getting fedora 17 (or 18 alpha) live image or install to work, as the video corrupts initially and then goes black and hangs when compositing/desktop-effects are enabled.
Looking through the linux-preinstalled 7010 models, I see only desktop and ultra-small form factors available... makes me wonder if the small-form-factor one is known bad or not. Thoughts?
I'll be contacting dell support later today

So, I have a happy ending after consulting with linux upstream developers for the intel/mesa subsystems, bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi . Seems the issue is fixed finally when using the combination of xf86-video-intel-2.20.3+ and mesa-8.0.4+
