Optiplex gx 260 ethernet driver problem

Question

Help!   I bought a gx260 that had everything wiped clean with windows xp home. Loaded up xp home and none of the drivers came up for anything. I downloaded the drivers from the dell website and got the sound working but I cannot get the ether net card to work. It gives me a yellow question mark and says no driver.   What should I do?

Also, I have downloaded the 3Com 3C905C-TXM Ethernet Adaptor   and the   Intel 8254x 1000 Integrated Network   and loaded them up...neither seem to work....   Help please

Neither works if you havent installed the CHIPSET drivers first.

Therefore, should I erase the drivers, then run the Intel Chipset utility and then install the drivers?

install the chipset then install the other drivers after rebooting. No need to Uninstall.

Hi   i am having the same problem   i installed the chipset then the drivers   and still dont work   what am i missing?

It must be enabled in the bios.
There are also versions of the board that DO NOT HAVE ethernet.

Uninstall any yellow ! in device manager and then install the correct drivers.

No such thing as one size fits all for Chipset OR for Network drivers.

There are Multiple versions of each.
