optiplex Gx1 a03-a04 boot problems
I resently installed a 866p3 in to my gx1 from what i have heard this is no horible thing now that i have flashed the bios to a04 the sys seems to boot but no monitor no beeps nonthing i have a copy of a10 and a07 down loaded from the dell website but cant install them if nonthing is working if any one has any ideas let me know
urgc7 is the servace tag and at present it has a quantom fireball 4g drive i have a 13 a 12 and that maby be put in it latter but with no bios this is imposible any help would be nice

Then you clear the cmos and remove the speed jumper or set to 266.
The cpu would run at 650mhz.
A 533 for example needs the jumper set at 400mhz
because 4 x 133 = 533.
133mhz cpus work but they do not necessarily all work.
Not due to that part but due to voltage for the cpu not being
correct.
This is why A slot to socket adaptor is usually required for
faster cpus.
Saying that a cpu doesnt work just because of the 133 bus
is completely wrong.
It does work but does not run at the expected speed.
Bios should be set to A07 and no higher.
