Optiplex gx280 doesn't boot, solid orange power button
Hi,
My gx280 doesn't work anymore.
When i push the on button, it turns orange, and my processor fan starts to spin, goes faster and faster till i'm to scared to let it go on, and i turn off the system. The on button light doens't go to green, i hear no bleeps, i get no screen;
I've replaced the power supply, that didn't help...
I got the systemboard out to make sure there aint short-circuiting going on, and get rid of the dust inside the system.
Could anyone verify what the problem is? Should i replace the cpu or the motherbord?
I dont have the right testing supplies to test one of the 2 parts :P, so i really would like to know before i buy new things...

I want to elabrate on what tr4 said. There are four small lights in the back of the box. Turn your machine on and see how the lights change. Write down the sequence. Actually you should have a user guide where the description of those bulb combinations are given. If you don't have it, it should be on Dell website. Query it for GX-280 user guide or GX-280 diagnostic lights.
You may be able to make your own diagnosis, actually.

There we have the second problem i guess, because none of the lights goes on, not even when powered on...
So i cant diagnose with those lights. (you ment the ABCD lights i guess).

Solid orange usually means motherboard failure.
Blinking orange usually means PSU or hard drive failure.
