Plug and Play configuration error at start up

I have get Plug and Play Configuration Error  f1 to cont. f12 for setup utility...No new hardware or downloads installed ..has been about 3 weeks, most times it will not even load up... did all the unplug everything stuff...pressed all the alt e and alt f stimutanously stuff still have problems....only way working is unplugged everything over night and now up but still error message but at least this time! I can actually use pc till the next time it is rebooted...PLEASE HELP!!!!

What system?

Is it still under warranty?

Have you called Tech support?

Ok boot the computer with the XP cd and do a repair install.

Will this delete all of the stuff on my pc.such as pics, music, important school papers?

No as long as you don't format the HD it won't.

What it does is replace just the Windows files, refreshing the OS.

Before you do anything with the operating system, replace the CMOS battery and clear the CMOS (enter setup, illuminate num, caps and scroll lock, and then press ALT-E until you hear a tone; restart).
