Pop sounds while playing audiio

Question

I have a new XPS720 and when I play music thorugh itunes or media player I get this popping noise. It does this when I go straight to headphones as well. Windows sound effects do it too. I have a Sounds Blaster X-FI card and Vista 32. I heard that there may be a conflict with NVidia GeForce 8800 GT, which I also have.

I worked through Dell support and they are going to send me a new sound card, but that doesn't feel like the right solution to me. Any ideas?

Also, I have tried updating the drivers for the sound and video cards and the flashing the BIOS, but nothing seems to work.   Thanks, David
