Precision 470 vs Precision 670
I own a dual 1.5ghz Xeon Precision 530 with 2GB of PC800 ECC RIMM and love the heck out of it...now I need a second box purely for network storage and the occasional LAN gaming. I prefer Dell Precision machines with P4 Xeon processors and RIMM memory (which excludes almost every other dell except the PowerEdge workstations)--and I can easily obtain either the systems or parts since I run the retail portion for one of the larger Dell refurb factories in Texas. Having said that I don't plan on getting anything more than dual 2.2ghz Xeons and 1GB of RIMM in it so I just want to know which has the better reliability rating? I've heard the 670 are rubbish from my reburb lab techs...but the 470 doesn't have the number of bays for a lot of drives--which means I would have to use my 530 as the Network storage machine and a 470 as the OS machine. Which one would you guys choose between these two? I think I'm leaning towards the 470 because I can get a fully loaded one for less than $350 at work...and it doesn't take up as much space as the 670.

I already own a Dell 670 dual xeon 2.8GHz with 2GB RAM, with 1 HD SATA 80GB. I think it's the slowest computer i've saw. Since april 2005, it brokes 4 times. I think i can say it's slow because my previous computer was a Compaq W8000 dual Xeon 2.2GHz with 1.5GB RAM and it was faster than this joke.
I will recommand you to buy from another company :) If you want good and fast computer.

1) Micron/Generic machines
2) Compaq (the only good Compaqs we get are PIII EVO towers--the D51S and D510 machines are horrible)
3) Apple (G3/G4 iMacs not PowerMacs--PowerMacs last for-freaking-ever and G3/G4 iMacs are HORRIBLE)
4) IBM (Netvistas aren't very good machines)
5) Tie-> Gateway/HP (Gateway E-series machines especially the E4000's are really good machines)
6) Dell
Almost every Precision workstation we get that isn't missing any parts are fully working and don't need any part refurbishing or get EOL'd unless it is on a Schedule B contract--and we get 100's of them every few months from Dell. The Dells that we have more issues with are Optiplex SX270/SX280 and Dimension tower/mid-tower models...those SX270/SX280 machines have thier motherboards fry very easily and often. I'll not buy any non-Dell XEON machines...I don't trust any other brand's XEON workstation/servers.
