printers won't load, error copying file

Question

Dell Dimension 2300, I tried two different printers, neither will install, I get 'error copying file' when I insert the CD, nor do they plug and play. They work fine on my other computer. Removed all my spyware, downloaded new xp from microsoft. Nothing works. Help!

Try downloading the drivers from the internet, don't use the optical drive.

Thanks, Yes, I tried that about 5 times. I also tried a different printer (hp) and also downloaded the newest version of XP from microsoft, I also removed all my spyware and other non critical programs. I still get the same message. I have another computer and the printers both work just fine.   Still frustrated.   Mitch

Are you using AOL? If so, there apparently is a conflict in one of the AOL programs and HP drivers. Try uninstalling all of the AOL side programs and then installing your printer.
