PRINTING PROBLEM URGENT
For some reason I can no longer connect to my printer - or reinstall it. I have been getting a variety of messages which in summary tell me that
The print spooler service is not running. Can anyone help me?
Dell technical department can't help me - can anyone out there????

bjorn borg,
Can you tell us what technical support has suggested and what you've done up to this point to try to resolve it.

bjorn borg,
Go to www.google.com and using Advanced Search, do a search using "The print spooler service is not running". There were a number of articles and I'm sure one of those will apply to your situation.

If no success with previous suggestions, remove your printer from the list (assuming it's there) by Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes>[your printer]... right mouse click and choose 'delete'.
Shut down system, unplug the USB from the computer, the restart. Once fully booted reconnect the printer (the printer should be ON). You should get a new device found; and you may need your Printer Software Disk to reinstall.

1. Check to see that the printer is indeed recognized by your system, and is active: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes. You should see your printer listed, and if you hover your mouse over the name (assuming it's in the list) the help balloon will tell you if it's active or not.
2. Also, make sure that the printer is the default printer.
3. If it's not in the list, try reinstalling the printer using the software that came with the printer.
4. If no luck with 1-3, try a different USB cable that you know is good; and you may wish to have the printer connected to a direct USB input and not through a hub.

fnv3 - (Frank). Your welcome.
It may help others if you can tell us what cured the problem. I see other threads in the forum with printer problems; and the solution you arrived at may very well give them something new to try.
Glad your problem is solved.
