Problem with Dell Driver Download Manager
I am needing to download an audio driver plus a couple more for my desktop. I went to the Driver sections and it recommended me use the Dell Driver Download Manager. I did, but now everytime I click on the download link for the specific driver, it prompts me to download the driver manager again. If I go to program files and open the Download Manager, an error message comes up saying there are no downloads and then it closes. How can I fix this??? Thanks in advance :)

Well I can't get it to give me that option anymore. How can I go back?

Have bookmarked a couple things since it comes up so often - figured I'd throw them in as well.
If uninstalling doesn't do it, you may have to clear your browser cookies as well - more FAQ's below:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/downloads/en/downloads_faq?c=us&l=en&s=gen#link20
If you don't want to clear all your cookies, just the Dell one, instructions from Dell-Eoghan-O (originally from the blog HERE):
In Internet Explorer go to Tools, Internet Options, Settings under Browsing History, View Files. There will be a cookie called cookie:name@dell where name is the name of the user. Delete this cookie and the pop-up should appear again.
In Firefox go to Tools, Options, Privacy tab. Click Show Cookies. Scroll down to Dell.com and remove the Dell.com sdc cookie.

I had the same problem and deleting the cookies let me use the browser options. So here I am clicking on about 20 driver downloads and thinking What good is this driver manager thing if the best I can do is work around it? I have another inherited Dell laptop to upgrade and am not looking forward to this process. Thanks for any insight you can offer.

There is not much you can do about it unless you have the Drivers CD.
The best thing to do is when you access the drivers and download use the enter your service tag to par the listing of drivers down. If you are installing XP or Vista follow the steps HERE on what and how to reload the drivers.

It would be far easier for all concerned especially Dell customers if Driver Download Manager was abandoned, I have repaired Dell computers for my customers over a number of years and prior to driver download manager never had a problem downloading drivers if the original driver disks had been lost.
With Driver Download Manager this is now a complete nightmare, you have to go through all the process of installing MS .net framework etc to use the download manager or delete cookies if you don't!
Download managers are a good idea to help speed up the process, but not when the web page does not properly explain the requirements for using the software or download manager itself does not flag that something is missing to be able to use it in the first place.
Please just scrap it until there is a better implemation of the software.

I agree with jimhagen. I have been trying to download and install updated Dell drivers intermittently for several months, including several that Dell tells me are important. Then they provide me with a process that doesn't work?! What a nightmare!
The delldriverdownloadmanager installs repeatedly, so I acquire 6-8 copies. I go to the download page and select 3-4 drivers for download. Then when I click to download them, it REPEATEDLY downloads and installs yet another copy of the download MANAGER, but then tells me that I have 'no drivers selected' to download. I don't need more copies of the download MANAGER, I need the DRIVERS!
Maybe I'm missing something here: What is a 'download manager' supposed to do, other than manage my downloads? Does this process work for ANYONE?
All of their Knowledge Base and FAQs simply send me back to the same 'download drivers' page, with the same instructions, that do not work. On the one page that provides a little more information, as I scroll down I read, "If you are using Dell Driver Download Manager, click here for instructions." I click there and it tells me AGAIN how DDDM should work. IT DOES NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY SOURCE OF INFORMATION TO EXPLAIN WHAT TO DO WHEN THEIR OWN INSTRUCTIONS ARE INCORRECT, OR THE SOFTWARE IS FLAWED!
Wouldn't it make sense for their automated system to ask, "Did this solve your problem?" and if it didn't, ESCALATE the issue! Don't just place the response in a database for some mythical improvement sometime (?) in the future!
Who do I call (or chat with) at Dell to get this problem resolved?

FYI, I just tried Dell Chat to resolve the driver download issue, but chat is almost as dismal as the download manager. Dell Support is definitely not what it once was. Dell Support was THE BIG REASON our company switched from G*tway (G*teway 2000 as it were). When will companies learn that getting customer service right is THE TOP WAY to stay on top.
