Processor speed on start-up

My three month old Dimension 3100 started up quickly for a few weeks after installation. Now it takes up to 2 minutes to get from initial log-on to the point where I can access files or the inter-net. Icons in the bottom right hand corner appear individually and very slowly.

Any help appreciated.

1) have you loaded significantly more software programs on your system?

2) it may be caused by Spyware, or Adware. You can download a free program off the web to remove these cookies.

3) Try defragging your hard drive.

See if that makes a difference in speed?

Like MRF4700 says. If you have installed software on your computer after you get it from Dell it's normal that the computer starts to be slow during starting and shutdown.

Or it can be adware or spyware, download this program and scan your computer it's a very god freeware program (you can by it too to get the whole program, but the freeware works just fine): http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
