Product Key

Question

Hi

Have what can be considered a big problem in that I am unable to locate product key for my Vista Home Premium Sp1. It was bought as a preinstalled and don't recollect receiving information regarding product key in the event of having to reinstall. It turns out that I am having big problems and would like to reinstall.

I am not even able to do a restore to a previous date when PC was working correctly to the best of my recollection.

Is there anywhere I can get this information. Most important.

But caution: since you have a preinstalled version, these key reporting software programs may report the OEM's installation keys--not yours.

Assuming you have a Dell computer, you should find the Key on a Sticker attached to the computer's case.

As those previously have noted, there is a tag on the PC with the code.  However, with a Dell reinstallation disc you shouldn't even need the Product key.

With Windows XP that was true, however with Vista it always asks for a product key.

It didn't ask me for a license key when I reinstalled Vista UE x64 on my Precision Workstation T3400 using the Dell media.

Dev Mgr, Agreed. When I loaded Vista Home on my XPS 630, it never asked for the product key.

Interesting, I have done my XPS420 a couple times and was asked each time. (With the Dell OEM disk).
