PS2 Cable length
I have several GX260 and GX270 small form factors. I require the keyboard and mouse to be about 30-40ft from the PC.
On the GX260s, passive extender cables (PS2 & VGA) work just fine.
On the GX270s, the passive cables do not work. The VGA is fine but, the PC will not boot at all, it starts into BIOS and then freezes, no error or warning.
My questions :
What is the min/max PS2 cable length for the GX270s. Why is it different to the GX260.
What other cost effective solutions are there for a direct run extension of 30ft. I have 1703FPs, but USB will only run 15ft before a connection is required.

Sorry for not answering the question - I just wanted to bump up the thread and say that i'm having the exact same problem and was wondering if someone has a fix...

I ended up getting a better grade cable and reducing my length from 50ft to 25ft.
I used to experience problems with the mouse PS2 but this time it was with the keyboard.
From what I could reseach it is related to sub-sized power supplies on PCs

actually, i was in discussion with someone earlier today and he said that he was having similar problems with the 270s in that it would not work with a KVM.
He found out that the newer desktops have a different voltage in the PS/2 connections. This is what was causing his problem.
I'm not sure if the same applies for us. maybe, considering that you went with a better grade of cables?
