Question about 8550 hardware
Will the mobo support the agp 8x capability of the 9700 pro?
can i add another 80gb hdd to the 30gb(my option), does the mobo have RAID?
What is the exact specs of the motherboard(RDRAM version)?
And can you tell me anyother specs of all the hardware used for an 8550 (with RDRAM)?

So it won't have support for the 8x option
(sorry about the model number)
Is there any Dell that does support AGP8x? or are they planning to have it?

as of right now No. But intel plans to relase mobo's with 8x agp sometime beginning of May.
If tradition holds DELL will have a model with 8x out sometime around then

Not sure.
Last I heard Intel was doing away with RDRAM for DDRAM on its designs.
But its hard to say for sure

Hi sman789,
The Dimension Models which supports 8X AGP video cards are Dim 4600(Yet to be released in the market), Dim 8300 (Yet to be released in the market), Dim XPS Mulder (Yet to be released in the market), Dim 8250, Dim 4550, Dim 4500, Dim 4400. And Dimension model 8250 supports both 8X AGP & 4X AGP. If you have got a AGP slot of 4X then the 8X 9700 Pro would function at the rate of 4X AGP. All other models that i have mentioned supports 4X AGP Video Card.

waiting for the best pc is a neverending cycle... but the 800mhz fsb systems are supposed to be coming out soon along with 3.2Ghz pentium processors. If that's in your budget. you'd do well to wait for it.

Hi sman789,
The latest modem that are yet to be released can handle both. They have the Autoswitch capability. If you use AGP 8X, then the slot performs at 8X or it will downgrade itself to 4X if necessary.
