Reinstall reformat raid etc.
Here are some general questions regarding reformatting and repartioning for an
E510 xp media center edition with xp reinstall disk and drivers and utilities disk.
80GB Sata II
Is this correct?
The reinstall xp cd will allow reformatting (wiping) the hard drive (or reinstall xp) as long as it
recognizes a that it's (xp) already installed? If the hard drive is blank,
the reinstall cd will not work. Correct?
Stumbled across this document, how does one find out if this is needed, or if
the dell xp reinstall cd does this already (if it is needed)?

No. The reinstall XP CD can install XP on a disk on which XP has been installed or on a blank disk.

Your computer uses SATA hard disk drives, so you need that driver disk. It is used when the prompt appears early in the installation process.
The only "gotchas" to be aware of are the two small partitions on the hard disk which contain Dell diagnostics and the PC Restore image. See this.

So the reinstall XP CD does not need any os previously installed?
And this is probably most important...
When doing a clean install on a blank disk, it would be assumed that the xp install would ask for a key, activation code, etc. Where is this information? Would this be the sticker on the back of the cd that was almost destroyed when trying to open the paper cd cover?
Also, not sure about this. The system ordered was xp media center edition, and right-clicking My
Computer says that, but in System Information, the OS Name says Microsoft Windows XP Professional. ?
