Replacing mouse with cordless..

Hey all,
 
..Got a G7 and now ive no idea how to get it going! Having been through the forum search i see that most everyone but myself (PC dunce) must know, so:
 
Can anyone help me with the procedure for changing to a cordless mouse (which needs batt charging via the USB !)?
I guess the question is:
Should i disconnect my old mouse beforehand?
Also:
Do obsolete mice and game controllers need to be uninstalled or simply unpluggd?

If you are currently using a generic mouse driver, then all you need to do is disconnect old one, plug in new one, and it should work with basic functionality. Then install its driver to gain full function.

Apologies for not seeing this reply earlier but thanks nontheless!
Its sorted now, and you were correct of course- seems ive experienced a USB prollem however.
