Restore recovery partition Dimension E521

Hi.

I deleted the recovery partition when I installed another system.

I want to recover these partitions and restore the computer to factory settings. I have the Win Vista DVD, but I want to have recovery partitions, is it possible?

Thank you.

Hi, soyel,

Here are the manual installation instructions for Vista. During the installation process, you will need to create a recovery partition on the hard drive in order to use the Vista recovery utility.

Hmm ... what about the diagnostics partition? (two hidden partitions).

Also I have the disk DRIVERS AND UTILITIES - DVD for Reinstalling Dell Dimension and Dell XPS Computer Software.

They can restore the two hidden partitions? how?

Thanks.

You don't need to restore the diagnostics partition. They can be run either from the utilities disc or from a bootable flash drive. Although it can be done in theory, it's not a simple task.

You can create a recovery partition on the hard drive. However, I would NOT recommend it. Instead, once you've got everything installed (OS, drivers, and important applications), use the Vista recovery utility to create a recovery image on a blank DVD disc.

The problem is that the recovery image is usually needed when the hard drive dies. But if your image is on the drive, it's not going to help you. It's much easier to keep it separate.
